Greetings in Christ!

We are blessed with a beautiful and very warm day on the island today! It’s nice to finally have summer weather.

Our summer staff was welcomed by Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie this past Sunday and installed for their summer positions by Pastor Kirk Lee. It’s always a blessing to visit local congregations!

We are very excited to have our first campers of the summer this week! Sunday brought campers for Creation Photography and Art Camp, who are already on their way to beautifully displaying God’s marvelous creation through pictures and other art forms. A very eager Servant Event group from Lincoln, NE also came this weekend. They are and will be working on projects on the waterfront and many more.

Yesterday Fred and Cathy Frick finally arrived from Indiana! They will be helping us for a few months this summer with various servant projects around camp.

Today we are pleased to also welcome Trailblazer Fishing Camp, Classic Camp and Servant Event Horse Camp to the island. We are happy to see excited kids ready for camp! There is still time to get signed up for your adventure!

This week also brings the Young family to the island! Brian Young will be providing resources and information for our Preparing for College camp this weekend as well as many other creation-science camps throughout the summer. The whole Young family is always a blessing to camp and we are anxious for them to arrive. Please consider sending your sophomore and older son or daughter to camp for the Preparing for College event.

Christ Serve Leadership training as well as Junior Counselor training will be held this weekend. God has blessed us with talented youth who hope to gain new leadership skills and it will be exciting to see them all grow in these talents through Him.

Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd is sending their VBS to camp this Friday for a Day at Camp. The summer staff will lead them in games, Bible studies, singing and swimming! This provides for a good change in the VBS routine, if your church is interested in sending your VBS to a similar Day at Camp, we may still have some openings for June 13-17 and August 1-5. Call the office for availability.

This spring, God has blessed us with many volunteers donating their time as well as blessed with monetary donations. Both are so greatly appreciated and camp would not be able to function without them. Just this week we received various donations totaling $13,115.46. Former staff members James Mickelson and Wade Meyer will be helping with some service projects around the island and we have a Melvin, Ralph and Jerry putting siding on the Retreat House!

We would love to be able to portray this summer’s theme “Reflecting His Light” in some fun activities this summer involving flashlights. If you have any kind of new or gently used flashlights that you would be willing to donate, the children this summer would appreciate the added fun in Bible studies and other activities!

At the same time we’ll be taking a safari into God’s word to hunt dinosaurs, giant fish, exotic plants, and strange weather patterns.
