We want to extend a very heartfelt “thank you” for the wonderful end of year contributions we received in the mail and on-line. All were a great blessing to us and will help very much with upcoming projects and to help cover end of the year expenses.
We’ve started getting Men’s Retreat registrations. The team has put together an excellent program this year. Check out the website for more information. This is a great event to bring a group of men from your congregations to.
The Polar Plunge will be here before you know it. This is a popular event for youth to participate in, either for the day or for the whole weekend. Here is a link for more information: http://islandcamp.org/content_123.php#Polar
We already have the first 60 participants signed up for Servant Events in the summer of 2012! We’ve also had enquiries from several others. Groups from MN North, this is your opportunity to be a part of history as we begin work on decks, docks, towers, and facilities at Christ Serve Ranch. Or you can be a part of the many projects we have planned at the Island.
We are more and more excited about our Equine College. This past week the team of instructors came in for some teamwork, planning, and demonstrations and everything went very well. We have two Family Events scheduled for this spring and invite you to consider this great opportunity to build your family through the use of horses. No horse experience is required since you won’t be riding anyway. We’ll soon have the information up on our website.
Summer Registrations have already started coming in and we have quickly jumped out to a great start. Consider taking advantage of the discounts for registering early. We’ve already had many of our Family Week slots taken up and have some family weekend events that we are getting registrations for.
Our January Quiltingretreat is beginning to fill. We’ve got quite a large group coming from the St. Cloud area. The dates are January 24-29. You can come for all five days or for just a couple of days.
Spring Christ Serve Ranch Family Servant Events: Families will have the opportunity to work on service projects at Christ Serve Ranch. This new event has a discounted rate of $75 each for the first 4 members of the family and a maximum of $250. Available most weekends throughout the spring, summer and fall. Help us build trails, observation decks, docks, and much more. Call for availability or check our website for more information. Summer Program Highlight - Beginner Horse Camp Weekend:
This event is for our younger campers who want to be a horseback rider but aren’t yet ready to participate in a weeklong event. Participants will spend time getting to know their horse and learn the basics of horsemanship including grooming, groundwork, respect, and riding. We’ll use some of our smaller and wiser horses. Most of our time will be spent in an arena. Campers may stay at Christ Serve Ranch.

Needs List: Each week we’ll be sharing something that would make life a little bit easier, safer, or more efficient here at camp. We hope you can help us find it at little or no cost. This week’s item is “saddles and tack”. We are always looking for good used saddles, bridles, lead ropes, halters, curry brushes and combs, etc.

Question: If I give something to camp such as a saddle, horse, or boat, may I take an income tax deduction.
Answer: Generally the answer is “Yes” but please consult your tax advisor before doing so. You might be surprised at the significant benefit that might be available. We do reserve the right to decline gifts or to sell them if it would be more advantageous to do so.
