YEAR ROUND STAFF

We are a team of individuals who love God and love camp! We work as a team, but more importantly we work as a body of Christ! Read on to learn more about us.

STACY LUNG
Executive Director

Stacy previously served the Island as the outdoor education coordinator for Christ Serve Ranch. She has five children with her husband, Sivert. Stacy considers herself a lifelong educator. She has taught high school science in both traditional public schools and in online environments. She currently serves as adjunct faculty for Trinity International University and teaches chemistry, ecology and some general science courses for Kepler Education, an online Christian classical school. Stacy had the opportunity to contribute to Concordia Publishing House's day school curriculum this summer as well!
In her free time she is found cheering for her children, hiking in the woods, or reading a book. Stacy is looking forward to getting to know everyone and hopes you will stop by to introduce yourself and share your stories about the Island. Stacy is pictured here with her two daughters.

SCOTT SHANE
Maintenance
Director

Scott (pictured far left) has a background in sales, having began his career with Target.  He has also been a route driver for Schwan's Frozen Foods and most recently has been in purchasing for Truck Bodies Equipment, International.  In his free time, Scott enjoys watching movies, working on outside projects, and camping with his wife, Brenda.  Scott is looking forward to his job being mainly outside at camp, and always having something to do to keep him busy.

Olivia is a graduate of Concordia University NE where she received her BA in Environmental Science with concentrations in Geography and Agricultural Science. Olivia previously served as a counselor at Camp Luther of Nebraska and a program assistant at Lutheran Island Camp. Olivia strives to make Lutheran Island Camp a place where everyone experiences Christ-centered adventure, education, and community. In her free time, Olivia can be found birdwatching, hiking, traveling, and making music.

Dianne grew up in Richfield, Minnesota. After 8th grade, she attended a summer Confirmation Week at LIC, never imagining that she would work there someday! After high school, she attended Concordia College (now University) with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Music. She taught for 25 years in Lutheran schools in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Iowa. Dianne and her husband, Bob, attend St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Henning, MN where Dianne is organist and choir director. They have 5 children, and 16 grandchildren. In her free time she enjoys reading, playing the piano, baking, fishing, and traveling, including trips to Florida. Dianne, along with her husband, operates an AirBNB at their house!

DIANNE GUTKNECHT
Business Manager

TAMMY PAPENFUSS
Guest Services Director

Tammy started working for the Island in 2009 as the housekeeper. In 2021, her role expanded to handling all rental groups. She is a member of St John's in Ottertail and a native of Henning. She loves being outside in most all the seasons (except winter), and especially enjoys gardening. Tammy loves the beauty and work atmosphere of the Island and appreciates seeing returning and new campers each year.

Brenda Shane
Food Service Director

Brenda returns to camp after spending a number of years in education, serving in Lutheran schools in Indiana, the Twin Cities, Sioux Falls, and Fairmont.  Brenda fondly remembers "growing up" on the island at August Family Week and spending parts or all of 8 summers serving in various roles at LIC.  In her spare time, Brenda enjoys reading, camping with her husband, Scott, and visiting with people to hear their stories. Scott and Brenda have 4 adult children; a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and a couple of grand "dogs".
